WALL OF WCJC PRESIDENTS
Wharton County Junior College President Betty McCrohan, right, unveils the “Wall of WCJC Presidents” with the assistance of Suzanne Armour – the daughter of former WCJC President Ted Nicksick Jr. – and WCJC Board of Trustees Chairman Danny Gertson. The special display was presented to college officials, faculty, alumni and students during a ceremony held recently in the J.M. Hodges Library on the Wharton campus. Six presidents have served at WCJC since the college’s founding in 1946: John M. Hodges (1946-1962), Travis M. McKenzie (1962-1966), Theodore Nicksick Jr. (1966-1984), Elbert C. Hutchins (1984-1994), Frank Robert Vivelo (1994-2001) and McCrohan, who was named the college’s president in 2001. During the ceremony, WCJC long-time athletic director Gene Bahnsen – who worked under all six presidents – shared memories of each of the college’s leaders. The wall is part of the ongoing celebration of WCJC’s 70th anniversary.
