FULFILL NEW YEARíS RESOLUTION TO START JOB TRAINING

Register for classes now

If job training is one of your resolutions for the new year, then now is the time to register for classes at Wharton County Junior College. Registration is available online through January 20, or in-person, January 2 through January 17 at the collegeís four campuses located in Wharton, Richmond, Sugar Land and Bay City. Classes begin on Tuesday, Jan. 21.

WCJC offers Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degrees to prepare students for entry into specific occupations and/or to transfer to a four-year university. These degrees are offered in dozens of areas including healthcare, technology, law, early childhood and more.

The college also offers an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in many different disciplines. This degree provides programs in university-parallel and pre-professional areas to enable students to enter four-year institutions as juniors.

Additionally, WCJC offers an Associate of Arts in Teaching (AAT) designed for students who plan to pursue a bachelorís degree that leads to initial Texas teacher certification. Two plans are available depending on the grade levels or subject matters in which a prospective teacher wishes to specialize.

Certificate programs, most of which take one year or less to complete, are also available at WCJC. These programs enable students to quickly gain practical skills to enter the workforce. Because the skills learned in certificate programs form the foundation for an AAS degree, students are able to continue their education while working. Additionally, some students who are already working earn certificates to make themselves more employable.

Distance education courses are also available through the Web and through interactive television.

Tuition and fees at WCJC are significantly less than four-year universities, which means students can start smart and pocket the savings to help them complete their four-year degree or reach other goals.
