The WCJC Concert Choir and Chamber Singers present A Classic Laugh featuring a dinner along with classic music with a comedy twist on Saturday, October 19, 2013. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. in the WCJC Pioneer Student Center with concert to follow in the Horton Foote Theatre, Duson-Hansen Fine Arts Building both on the Wharton campus. Admission is $20.

This concert will feature well known composers of choral music but with a twist. This will be the first concert of the season, as well as, first concert with the new choir director Eddie Vandewalker. Debra Lemson will be the accompanist.

The choral literature chosen for this concert allows the students the opportunity to study and perform the music of famous choral music composers from the 1600s to living composers, but will also allow the audience to be surprised with the unexpected twists.

Proceeds from this event will be used to help support student educational travel.

For more information on the choir dinner fundraiser or to purchase tickets call 979.532.6300.

Upcoming choral events include the annual favorite Christmas Candlelight Concert on December 5, at 7 p.m., at the First Baptist Church in Wharton. This concert will feature the WCJC Concert Choir and Chamber Singers. Community participation is encouraged for the last three songs of the concert. One of the songs to be featured will be Handelís Hallelujah! from the oratorio Messiah. Community members planning to sing are asked to attend a few rehearsals before the concert. Information about rehearsals is available by calling 979.532.6300.
